Wet Cat Food

Hydration is extremely important to a cat’s overall health. Since cats do not have a strong thirst drive, it is important for a cat to ingest water with his or her food. Wellness wet cat recipes are a delicious and healthy way to increase your cat’s moisture intake.

Wellness Canned Cat Recipes

Wellness Canned Recipes provide sources of protein and essential fatty acids. They’re made with high quality proteins and are free of added growth hormones and steroids. Recipes also include ingredients like sweet potatoes and carrots, essential vitamins and minerals, and fresh, whole cranberries and blueberries are added to help maintain proper urinary tract health.

Importance of Good Hydration

Water is an essential nutrient for your cat and accounts for 60-75{9566c0a8c38d7ef68d82188668983429d8c3d2118cd02557d3ef814309ae7d10} of an adult cat’s body weight. Water helps your cat’s body digest food, regulate body temperature, eliminate waste (urinary issues continue to be one of the most common medical reasons pet parents take their cats to the veterinarian each year) and allows salt and other electrolytes to pass through the body. Encouraging hydration is extremely important. Providing a bowl of fresh, clean water does not ensure your cat will naturally drink what they need in order to stay properly hydrated and healthy.

Tips to Encourage Healthy Hydration:

1. Many cats love to drink running water. Re-circulating water fountains are very attractive water stations that, in many cases, will stimulate a cat to drink more frequently.
2. Try moving the water from one location to another regularly as sometimes a new location can help to stimulate cats to drink.
3. If your cat has had urinary problems in the past, canned foods should be a major part of their diet. You can even add more water to your cat’s canned food to encourage increased water intake.
4. Multiple, clean, fresh litter boxes should be placed in out of the way areas, making it easy for your cat to relieve himself without interruption.

Crack for Cats, May 15, 2010
I started feeding my over-weight cat Wellness canned and stopped all other foods including any dry. No more vomiting, no more shedding like crazy, no more begging for food all day long and waking me up in the night. She's lost a little bit (not much), but she looks great and I have not stepped in a pile of vomit in months.
Love this food!!

Expensive, but my cat is thriving on it, July 3, 2009
By

I decided to switch my cat's food because she was having all kinds of problems: excessive throwing up, urinary tract issues, and significant weight loss that the vet couldn't explain. I switched her from Kirkland dry and Friskies Turkey Pate canned to Wellness dry and Wellness chicken formula, and it's been almost an overnight miracle. She's put on at least a pound in 3 weeks (she eats an entire 5.5 oz can plus dry food every day--no more pushing the food around and not really eating), no more straining on the litter box, and she hasn't barfed in over a week! I'm really impressed at what a difference this food has made for my cat's health.

Important Code Information, August 29, 2013

I called Wellness after noticing a dramatic change too. She explained that they used two plants to produce the chicken flavored cans, one in NJ and a newer one in Utah. And they are aware the quality of the product from Utah had fallen below their standards so they shifted all production to NJ plant. There is a code on the bottom of the can. If you see MW10 or MW01 it's from Utah; any other code is from NJ and will be okay. The Utah product was like soup and smelled bad, whereas the NJ product smells like chicken and is far more solid.
