Great Sleep or play tree for your cat!, February 7, 2012

I am not normally one to write a review but I just had to tell you about this product and how happy my cats are! I just received this cat tree delivered to me today on my doorstep. I put it together very easily in a matter of under 10 minutes. No sooner had I put it together, two of my older cats laid down on it.I had originally purchased this product for my kitty to use so it was quite funny when the older cats went on it first. Later when I came back home from work, my kitten was sleeping on the hammock top. I can see I am going to have to purchase another one so my cats don't fight over it 🙂 It also comes with a cute ball for them to play with and 2 posts they can scratch on. I am very satisfied with this product, especially for the price. Please check out my adorable pictures!!

I purchased this item not as a scratching post, but as a sleeping place for one of my cats. I was happy to read from previous reviews that the bed is small, since the cat I bought it for is only 8 pounds. I figured that my big 20 pound bruiser would not like it, and she could have it to herself. Well I was wrong. It's a tight fit for him, but he loves it.... Actually they both love it. I put it on a chest by the window so they can look outside. It is the sleeping place of choice in my house (and there are several other window beds to choice from). Easy to assemble and pretty sturdy. The edges of the bed are a bit hard, so I just laid another bed on top of it.

This double-post perch was purchased as a scratching place, to keep the cats off our furniture. It's a great succes! Even before we rubbed the posts down with catnip to help out, the cats were sharpening their hardware on this.

I'm not sure why people have been leery of using this with "large" cats. We have two 20-pound Maine Coon cats, and they find the "hammock" to be just fine, thank you! OK, it's a bit of a tight squeeze for either of them, but most cats find that pleasurable.

This stand was put together in a few minutes. OK, there are no instructions. So here's the scoop: the tops of the two posts have large threaded bolts embedded in them, which you twist into the metal threaded sockets in the pieces of wood concealed in the ends of the hammock. Then you insert the two identical (provided) bolts up through the base into the sockets in bottoms of the posts, tightening them up with the supplied Allen wrench. It's solid as a rock...

The post color is a light beige-white, sort of a (dare I say?) taupe (the rope has been bleached/dyed), while the hammock and base are covered in matching, mid-length "fake fur." We worried that this "upholstery" would be too much like carpet (which is what we DON'T want them targeting), but the "fur" is too whispy to attract their scratching.

In summary, it's a purrfect solution. We're ordering a second one today!
